ADAM LAUER

CERTIFICATIONS

Dr. Lauer is licensed by the State of Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure. He holds board certification in Family Practice and OMT from the National Board of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

EDUCATION

Dr. Lauer attended Lake Region High School's class of 1991 in Naples, Maine. He later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine in 1996. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry. 

 

Dr. Lauer graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine in 2000. He obtained a Doctor of Osteopathy degree and was inducted into the honor society Psi Sigma Alpha for members in the top 10% of the graduating class.

POSTGRADUATE TRAINING

Dr. Lauer completed internship and residency training at Eastern Maine Medical Center from 2000-2003 in Bangor, Maine. The Family Practice Residency Program is accredited by the ACGME and AOA. It is a designated Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Institute.

PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

Adam Lauer, D.O. is native to Bridgton, Maine and is married to Ellen Lauer, D.O. He is the son of Lonnie Lauer, D.O. and Linda Lauer. He is a class III-IV white water kayaker and enjoys the physical pursuits of road-cycling, mountain biking, pool and open water swimming, tent camping, and hiking Mt. Katahdin (Maine's highest summit). He also loves playing with his daughter Maggie and sons Frankie & Charlie.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Dr. Lauer  has served on the Bangor YMCA’s Board of Directors from 2011 to 2014. He chaired the Tri for the Y Committee, a fund-raising triathlon for youth programs, and was the Inaugural Race Director of this event from 2012 through 2016. He is a paying member of the YMCA and supports their motto: For Youth Development, For Healthy Living, For Social Responsibility.

 

He served on the Maine Osteopathic Association Board of Directors from 2013-2014. He is Past-President of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association (2009-2013) and has served on this board from 2007-2013.

 

Dr. Lauer was a Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine for UNECOM osteopathic student-physicians from 2003-2013. He also served as the volunteer school physician for the Brewer and Orrington School Departments from 2005-2013.

HONORS & AWARDS

In 2018, Dr. Lauer was awarded Brewer, Maine's Business of the Year Award for recognition of local volunteerism in founding the local chapter of Neighborhood Watch and community action to help keep each other safe from criminal threat.

In 2016, Dr. Lauer was given a special recognition award as "Founder of the Tri for the Y," noting his 5 years of service founding and race directing this fund-raiser of Youth Programs for the Bangor YMCA.

In 2013, Dr. Lauer was awarded the Roswell P. Bates D.O. Public Service Award by the Maine Osteopathic Association. This is the state association's highest honor given to the D.O. who demonstrates outstanding achievements to public health, political or community service and enhances and demonstrates the Osteopathic profession's committment to service above and beyond that of direct patient care.

 

In 2013, Dr. Lauer was awarded the G. Peirce Webber Volunteer of the Year Award by the Bangor YMCA in recognition of volunteerism above and beyond the call of duty.

 

In 2013, Dr. Lauer was recognized by the American Osteopathic Association Unsung Heroes Award, given to D.O.'s who are not only rated excellent physicians but give back to their community or professional associations beyond the routine expectations of physicians.

 

In 2013, upon retirement from serving as the Volunteer School Physician for the Brewer School Department, Dr. Lauer was given the Antique Clock Recognition of Service Award.

 

In 2010, Dr. Lauer was presented The Blue Lobster Award for service and dedication to the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine by its Dean Dr. Marc Hahn. The blue lobster exists in nature with a prevalence of approximately one per million lobsters, and hence the award is given to supporters of UNECOM who demonstrate capacities for giving, supporting, and mentoring that are "one in a million."

 

In 2009, Dr. Lauer was inducted into the American Osteopathic Association's Mentor Hall of Fame for being selected one of the top five D.O. mentors in the nation.
