BILLING
TCFM OFFERS THREE BILLING OPTIONS
Due to Dr. Lauer’s ongoing health struggles, he is no longer able to see patients and unfortunately must cancel all future scheduled appointments with him. If you have an appointment scheduled with him, our office will be in touch with you about assisting in transferring your care. If you are experiencing urgent health issues, please call 911 or present to an Emergency Department in addition to transferring your care to a different provider. Twin City Family Medicine will remain staffed until October 27, 2024 to assist patients with transferring their care.
INSURANCE
TCFM participates with the following insurers: Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Anthem Federal, Anthem State, any subsidiary of Anthem & Blues, and Maine Community Health Options.
As of May 1st, 2024 TCFM no longer participates with a number of insurers. Click below to learn more. You may consider our subscription plan, or we will graciously transfer your records.
DPC SUBSCRIPTION
Starting May 1st, 2024,
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a practice model which allows doctors and patients to have a relationship which does not involve insurance companies. Your doctor is employed by YOU. In this alternative payment model, patients pay a monthly membership fee and the doctors provide the professional service.
CASH PAY
Until May 1st, "Same date of service payment discount" is available for patients who have no insurance or for patients that have insurance types in which we do not participate.
Fee-for-service will be discontinued as of May 1st, 2024.
Upon request we will gladly provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for out of network reimbursement.

INSURANCE PARTICIPATION
Effective May 1, 2024 we will only continue participation with Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Anthem Federal, Anthem State, and any other subsidiary of Anthem and Blues. We also continue to accept Maine Community Health Options.
TCFM will no longer accept the following insurance types: Aetna, Cigna, CEHA, UHC, UMR, Meritain, and many other minor insurers.
Effective on May 1, 2024 our practice will accept payment for self-pay, for insured patients whom we do not accept their insurance, as a subscription. This is called Direct Primary Care (DPC). This is a well-established trend in the private-physician sector. We've been providing these services already for many years such as: patient-first attitude, availability nearly 24/7, email access to the physician directly, low-cost medication purchased at the doctor's office (currently antibiotics, antivirals, prednisone, sildenafil, eye drops, and asthma medication & nebulizers). Additional features of the DPC model include low cost in-office tests included in the subscription fee, and certain medicines included by the subscription fee (commonly $5 drugs).
If you are currently self-pay or have insurance we no longer accept, then we offer yearly subscription rates at the following fee schedule: $1,200 for single adult, $2,200 for two adults, $2,800 per family plan (2 adults, and 2 children, and $200 per additional child).
We recognize that these options may be too expensive or unattainable for many of our patients. If this is the case, we will transfer your medical records to the office of your choosing, once we receive your records release.
CASH PAY RATES
"Same date of service payment discount" is available for patients who have no insurance or for patients that have insurance types in which we do not participate, see below:
Note, if you are utilizing numerous services you may be interested in our subscription model. You can learn about DPC here.
